Shopian SSP Chairs Crucial Crime and Security Review to Strengthen UAPA and NDPS Investigations

SHOPIAN — February 09, 2026:-In a major push to enhance the legal and security framework of the district, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary, chaired an extensive crime and security review meeting today at the District Police Office.

The session was dedicated to evaluating the current crime landscape, with a specific focus on the progress of high-stakes investigations, the rate of case disposals, and the operational challenges encountered by field officers.

SSP Choudhary emphasized that all investigations must remain professional, impartial, and legally airtight to ensure that charge sheets are filed on time, ultimately leading to higher conviction rates and a more effective prosecution process.

A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to the status of cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the NDPS Act. Regarding national security matters, the SSP stressed the necessity of meticulous evidence collection and seamless coordination with intelligence agencies to build formidable cases against those involved in subversive activities.

On the front of social safety, he issued a directive to intensify anti-narcotics operations, ordering officers to aggressively identify habitual offenders, peddlers, and suppliers. The goal is to dismantle drug networks entirely by leveraging inter-agency cooperation and cutting off supply chains operating within the district.To bolster the overall security apparatus, field officers were instructed to maintain high vigilance and prioritize ground-level intelligence gathering to prevent any disruption of public order.

SSP Choudhary further mandated the strict adoption of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the integration of modern investigative tools and technology. By improving case documentation and embracing technological advancements, the Shopian Police aim to enhance the efficiency of their investigations, ensuring that peace and law are upheld through a more responsive and technologically savvy force.
