BARAMULLA, FEB 8, 2026 — In a major step toward a drug-free society, the Baramulla Police successfully apprehended an individual involved in narcotics smuggling during a strategic “naka” checkpoint on the National Highway near Eco Park.
The suspect, identified as Arshid Ahmed Sheikh, a resident of Fatehgrah, was intercepted by a police team as part of an ongoing anti-drug drive. Upon a thorough personal search, authorities recovered approximately 135.5 grams of a charas-like substance from his possession.
Following the seizure, a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 03/2026, citing Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act, at the Sheeri Police Station.
As investigations continue to trace the supply chain, the Baramulla Police have reiterated their uncompromising stance against drug peddlers and urged the local community to cooperate by reporting any suspicious illegal activities.
