JAMMU, February 01, 2026: In a powerful move to mobilize the youth against narcotics, Minister for Transport, Youth Services & Sports, and IT, Satish Sharma, today flagged off the “Mini Marathon 1.0 – Run with the Rising Sun,” declaring that the Jammu and Kashmir government is tackling the drug menace in “mission mode.”
Organized by the Directorate of Youth Services & Sports under the leadership of DG Anuradha Gupta, the event served as a platform for the Minister to emphasize a zero-tolerance approach toward substance abuse, combining strict enforcement and rehabilitation with the promotion of sports as a positive alternative.
Highlighting that every promise made to create a disciplined and healthy society will be fulfilled, Sharma urged the participating youth to act as “ambassadors of change,” noting that sports not only foster physical well-being but also instill the resilience and teamwork necessary to resist social evils.
He further reiterated the administration’s commitment to empowering the YSS department and upgrading sports infrastructure, particularly in rural and far-flung areas, to ensure that the youth of the Union Territory remain positively engaged and equipped to lead a drug-free future.
