Kashmir Power Update: KPDCL Scales Up Electricity Supply to 699 MW Following Heavy Disruptions

SRINAGAR, January 23, 2026 — The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has made significant strides in restoring electricity across the valley following an early-morning collapse in load demand due to adverse conditions.

According to an official update shared via their X (formerly Twitter) handle, the regional power load plummeted to a record low of just 60 MW at 6:00 AM today. In response, KPDCL field teams were immediately deployed across various districts to repair damaged lines and stabilize the grid, working continuously through the morning to bring essential services back online for consumers.

As a direct result of these sustained restoration efforts, the power corporation successfully increased the load capacity to 699 MW by midday, marking a substantial recovery in the distribution network. KPDCL officials have confirmed that restoration work is progressing steadily and that technical teams remain stationed on the ground to address localized faults and further improve supply stability.

The corporation has urged residents to be patient as they work toward full grid normalization, emphasizing their commitment to restoring power to all affected areas despite the logistical challenges posed by the current weather.
