Assam Rifles Honors Fallen Heroes with Solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony in Nagaland
KOHIMA, January 23, 2026 — Paying tribute to the immortal saga of its bravehearts, the Assam Rifles organized a poignant Wreath Laying Ceremony at the Unit War Memorial in Kohima Garrison.
The ceremony was held to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Rifleman Kampai Wangsu and Rifleman L Ginlal Ven Ngaihte, who laid down their lives in the line of duty exactly nine years ago. Wreaths were laid at the memorial as a mark of respect, symbolizing the force’s commitment to never forgetting those who prioritize national security above their own lives.
By observing this anniversary, the Assam Rifles reaffirmed its rich traditions of bravery and selfless service, ensuring that the legacy of Rifleman Wangsu and Rifleman Ngaihte continues to inspire the “Sentinels of the North East” and the nation at large.
