Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi Highlights Role of Youth and Knowledge at World Book Fair

NEW DELHI, January 17, 2026 — General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), visited the World Book Fair at Bharat Mandapam today, an event organized by the Ministry of Education.

During his visit, the Army Chief engaged with both military and civil authors and toured various key exhibits, including the Qatar International Stall, a UN equipment display, and the Children’s Pavilion. He took the opportunity to emphasize that the future of India is deeply rooted in its youth, noting that books play a vital role in nurturing the knowledge and critical thinking necessary for the nation’s progress.

As India advances toward the goal of Viksit Bharat @2047, General Dwivedi remarked that informed and curious minds will serve as the country’s greatest strength in the coming decades. He also extended his commendation to the National Book Trust for its efforts in showcasing India’s extensive civilisational, scientific, and military heritage.

By presenting these rich historical narratives alongside modern perspectives, he noted that the fair effectively inspires new ideas and a sense of pride among the younger generation.
