JAMMU, January 5, 2026: In a proactive move to strengthen security ahead of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, the Jammu Police South Zone has initiated strict legal action against landlords failing to comply with mandatory tenant verification orders.
Acting on the directives issued by the District Magistrate of Jammu, the Police Post Narwal, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Bahu Fort, registered two separate cases against house owners found hosting tenants without the required police clearance.
These enforcement measures are part of a broader security sweep designed to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure a high level of vigilance across the city during the high-alert period.The identified violators include Shakeela, a resident of Rajiv Nagar, Narwal, and Rohit Kumar, also a resident of Narwal, both of whom have been booked under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Specifically, FIR No. 09/2026 and FIR No. 11/2026 were registered at Police Station Bahu Fort following a verification drive conducted by the In-Charge of Police Post Narwal and the SHO of Bahu Fort, supervised by senior officers including the SDPO City East and SP City South.
Authorities have reiterated that tenant verification is a critical component of public safety, urging all citizens to cooperate with the police and strictly adhere to administrative guidelines to maintain peace and order throughout the festive season.
