New Delhi 24 December :- The 2024 batch of Indian Defence Accounts Service (IDAS) probationers called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan today, December 24, 2025. During the interaction, the President highlighted the critical role these officers play in managing the financial resources of the Indian Armed Forces and allied organizations. She emphasized that their responsibilities—ranging from budgeting and auditing to providing strategic financial advice—directly impact the nation’s operational readiness and the development of essential defence infrastructure. As the principal accounting and financial authority for the Defence Services, the President advised the officers to maintain a deep understanding of the unique operational realities and hardships faced by the Armed Forces to better serve their needs.
Addressing the rapidly evolving global landscape, the President noted that shifting geopolitical environments and emerging security threats require faster and more accurate decision-making. She urged the Defence Accounts Department to continuously innovate and modernize its processes to keep pace with complex, technology-driven business environments. Furthermore, she called on the officers to actively champion the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ by supporting indigenous production and strengthening local supply chains. By promoting domestic industry, the President noted, IDAS officers can contribute significantly to a self-reliant and resilient defence ecosystem.
Concluding her address, the President encouraged the probationers to become lifelong learners and to embrace change with confidence. She reminded them that the true measure of their professional success would not be found in their titles or recognition, but in their steady contribution to the welfare of citizens and the effective functioning of national institutions. She urged the new officers to remain curious and committed to excellence as they begin their service to the nation.
