Jammu Infrastructure Boost: Div Com Reviews National Highway Projects; Orders Opening of Gandharwan Tunnel Tubes
Jammu 18 December :- Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, chaired a high-level meeting today to expedite the completion of major National Highway and road projects across the Jammu Division. Reviewing the work being executed by the NHAI, NHIDCL, and Border Roads Organisation (BRO), the Divisional Commissioner focused on critical stretches of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway and the Jammu-Poonch National Highway.
A major directive was issued to the Chief Engineer of BRO to open both tubes of the Gandharwan Tunnel on the Jammu-Poonch Highway immediately to ensure the seamless movement of traffic and reduce congestion for commuters.In a move to improve urban connectivity in Jammu city, the Divisional Commissioner directed NHIDCL to prioritize the completion of the Bhagwati Nagar flyover and ordered the speedy finishing of the 3-kilometer overbridge at Vijaypur on the Katra Expressway.
The meeting also addressed vital administrative bottlenecks, specifically focusing on land acquisition and pending forest clearances that have hampered project timelines. By coordinating with the Deputy Commissioners and the Director of Geology & Mining, Ramesh Kumar underscored the need for a synchronized effort to resolve all pending issues, ensuring that the Chenab Valley highways and the Buddal-Mahore-Gul road projects are delivered within their respective deadlines.
