Training programme on NDPS Act and NAFIS begins in Batote

BATOTE, JULY 15: A two-day training programme on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and the National Automated Fingerprint Identification System commenced today at JKTDC Dak Bungalow for investigating officers and probationary deputy superintendents of police.

Part of the Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan initiative, the event was inaugurated by Sargun Shukla, Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range, alongside SSP Ramban Arun Gupta, SSP ANTF Anwar-ul-Haq, Deputy Director Prosecution Rajesh Bakshi, and Senior Prosecuting Officer Abdul Bari.During her inaugural address, the DIGP emphasized the critical need for conducting drug investigations in a meticulous, legally sound, and evidence-based manner.

She stressed that strict compliance with statutory provisions and procedural safeguards is vital to ensuring successful prosecutions and convictions. She also highlighted that continuous capacity building and skill upgradation for investigating officers remain essential to effectively tackling emerging challenges in drug-related case investigations.

The training includes expert lectures, practical demonstrations, and interactive sessions covering the legal framework of the NDPS Act, investigation procedures, proper evidence collection, and hands-on training for NAFIS operations.

On the opening day, Abdul Bari delivered a detailed lecture on legal provisions, Anwar-ul-Haq spoke on technical and procedural aspects of investigations, and Rajesh Bakshi highlighted common defects found in investigations alongside corrective measures.

Investigating officers from across the Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban districts participated in the event, reflecting the regional police force’s commitment to enhancing scientific and professional policing standards.
