Samba Border Alert: Suspected Pakistani Balloon Found in Ghagwal Sector Sparks Security Review
SAMBA, FEB 27, 2026 — A wave of high alert swept through the Ghagwal sector of Samba district on Friday morning following the recovery of a suspected Pakistani balloon in the Randhwal area.
The suspicious object, a bright green balloon emblazoned with the slogans in white English and Urdu script, was discovered by a local resident identified as Raghubir Singh, son of the late Harbans Singh.
Recognizing the potential security implications in the sensitive border belt, Singh immediately alerted the Ghagwal Police Station.
A specialized police team was dispatched to the site to take custody of the balloon for forensic examination. While the situation in the sector remains stable, security agencies have initiated a comprehensive investigation to determine the balloon’s origin and whether its flight was a deliberate attempt at reconnaissance or a stray occurrence.
Surveillance has been tightened across the Samba border region as officials work to ensure no additional suspicious materials were dropped alongside the aerial object.
