CISF Intercepts Foreign Currency Worth Lakhs at Hyderabad Airport
Hyderabad, April 16, 2026 – Security personnel at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport successfully intercepted an international traveler attempting to smuggle a significant amount of foreign currency to Hong Kong. During a routine operation, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) intelligence team identified a passenger based on suspicious behavioral indicators and profiling.
Upon conducting a detailed screening of the individual’s hand baggage near the departure gate, officers discovered concealed currency totaling 48,550 US Dollars, which is valued at approximately 45.28 lakh Indian Rupees. Following the recovery, the passenger and the seized funds were handed over to Customs authorities for further legal proceedings.
This successful detection highlights the ongoing alertness and effective coordination of the security teams stationed at the airport in preventing the illegal movement of currency.
