Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo Reviews Preparedness for Shri Amarnath Yatra 2026 Scheduled for July 3
JAMMU, April 16, 2026:-Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired a high-level meeting of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) to review the extensive arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2026, which is set to span 57 days from July 3 to August 28.
During the session, the Chief Secretary emphasized the need for a seamless and safe experience for pilgrims traveling along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and the traditional routes via Baltal and Chandanwari.
With registration already underway since April 15 and nearly 20,000 pilgrims signed up on the first day, the administration is focusing on augmenting infrastructure to accommodate an anticipated increase in footfall.
Pratham Puja for the pilgrimage is scheduled for June 29, 2026, marking the spiritual commencement of the season.To ensure operational readiness, the Chief Secretary issued strict deadlines to various departments, including a May 15 target for the Border Roads Organisation to clear snow from all Yatra tracks.
Key directives included the completion of 100-bedded hospitals at Chandanwari and Baltal by June 20, the operationalization of the Integrated Command and Control Centre in Srinagar by June 10, and the installation of robust telecom connectivity along all routes.
Additionally, departments were tasked with ensuring high sanitation standards, scientific waste disposal, uninterrupted power and water supplies, and the registration of all service providers and ponies through a digital prepaid system.
The Chief Secretary stressed that coordinated efforts among the civil administration, police, and disaster management teams are essential to provide a secure and spiritually fulfilling journey for all devotees.
