Sakeena Itoo Proposes AI Integration to Revolutionize Healthcare and Education in Jammu & Kashmir

JAMMU, April 13, 2026 — Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo, chaired a landmark high-level meeting today to evaluate cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) initiatives proposed by IIT Jammu .

The session focused on implementing systemic reforms across the School Education and Health sectors to foster a technologically empowered administration.

Attended by top officials including Commissioner Secretary M. Raju and CEO of the State Health Agency Anant Dwivedi, the Minister directed the development of a structured, age-appropriate AI curriculum for students ranging from primary to higher secondary levels.

This curriculum is set to cover essential modern skills such as generative AI, prompt engineering, and computational thinking, while ensuring content is available in regional languages to maintain inclusivity for students in remote and underserved districts.

In the healthcare sector, Minister Itoo emphasized the urgency of adopting AI to enhance transparency and operational efficiency. A primary focus was placed on leveraging AI-driven interventions for fraud detection in AB-PMJAY/SEHAT schemes, ensuring that public funds are utilized transparently for genuine beneficiaries.

Additionally, the Minister explored the optimization of hospital logistics, including bed management, ambulance deployment, and workforce planning through AI.

By integrating these proposals with existing infrastructure like Smart Classrooms and Atal Tinkering Labs, the government aims to build a future-ready workforce and a citizen-centric healthcare system.

The project, supported by IIT Jammu’s Institute Incubation & Innovation Council and Innefu Labs Limited, marks a significant step toward making Jammu and Kashmir a leader in innovation-led governance.
