IGI Airport Counter-Terror Drill: Multi-Agency Mock Exercise Strengthens Delhi Aviation Security
NEW DELHI — July 16, 2026: In a major push to bolster aviation security, a comprehensive Joint Counter-Terrorist Mock Exercise was conducted at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport to evaluate operational preparedness and streamline emergency response coordination. The high-intensity drill simulated a realistic counter-terrorism scenario, testing the response times, inter-agency communication channels, and strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) required to neutralize emerging security threats.
The large-scale exercise brought together a diverse group of key security and emergency agencies, including the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Delhi Police, National Security Guard (NSG), Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), and Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL). Additional specialized units, including the Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Airport Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF), RAXA security services, Central Industrial Wing (CIW), Delhi Fire Service (DFS), and Central Accident Trauma Services (CATS) ambulance teams, also actively participated in the coordinated response.
The successful completion of the drill demonstrated swift operational response times and seamless multi-agency collaboration. By pressure-testing the integrated defense mechanisms of these various departments, the exercise reaffirmed the CISF’s ongoing commitment to maintaining robust aviation security, protecting critical transport infrastructure, and ensuring the absolute safety of millions of passengers traveling through India’s busiest aviation hub.
