Commissioner Secretary Reviews Vibrant Village Projects in Samba, Assures Inclusive Development Under Phase-II

SAMBA, June 10, 2026: Commissioner Secretary for Forests, Ecology and Environment, Sheetal Nanda, on Wednesday visited the border villages of Chak Dulma and Chak Lala in Rajpura Block under the Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) Phase-II, reaffirming the Jammu and Kashmir Government’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development in remote border areas.

During the visit, she reviewed the progress of various projects proposed under the programme and was briefed by officials on ongoing development initiatives. Authorities informed her that all 16 villages identified under the scheme have been assigned Nodal Officers and detailed gap-analysis exercises have been completed, with village-specific projects already proposed. As part of the plan, 11 development projects have been identified for Chak Dulma and nine for Chak Lala, focusing on infrastructure improvement and livelihood enhancement.

Villagers actively participated in the interaction, raising concerns related to agriculture, local departmental functioning, and other civic issues, while also seeking facilities such as a playground and a veterinary hospital. Responding to the demands, Sheetal Nanda assured residents that the government would adopt a people-centric and multi-stakeholder approach to ensure the creation of modern infrastructure, particularly for the youth, aimed at fostering socio-economic growth and promoting a productive, drug-free society in Samba’s border regions. Senior civil and security officials, including the Additional District Development Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, BSF Company Commander, district officers, and local residents, were also present during the visit.
