Baramulla Gambling Raid: Jammu & Kashmir Police Arrest 9 Men, Seize Cash in Tangmarg

BARAMULLA, June 10,2026 — In a swift crackdown on illegal betting, the Jammu and Kashmir Police busted a gambling den near the Shajimarg Crossing in the Tangmarg area of Baramulla district on Wednesday, June 10, 2026. Acting on credible intelligence, a specialized raid team from the Tangmarg Police Station caught nine individuals red-handed while they were engaged in card gambling. Although the suspects attempted to flee the scene upon spotting the law enforcement officials, they were tactfully cornered and apprehended by the police party.

The authorities recovered and seized ₹19,410 in cash from the gambling site to be used as evidence. The arrested individuals, identified as residents of the nearby Qazipora, Katipora, and Chanpora areas of Tangmarg, are currently in custody. Following the raid, the J&K Police officially registered Case FIR No. 49/2026 at the Tangmarg Police Station, and a formal investigation into the operation has been launched. Reaffirming their commitment to maintaining public order, the police department has urged local citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement by reporting any criminal activities or public nuisances in their neighborhoods.
