Budgam Police Seize Large Narcotics Haul and Arrest Two Suspects Near Magam
BUDGAM, April 14, 2026 :- In a significant breakthrough against local drug trafficking, the Magam Police intercepted a vehicle and arrested two individuals involved in the transport of illegal substances.
The operation took place during a routine security check on the Watmagam to Magam road, where an alert police team signaled a passenger auto to pull over.
The driver initially attempted to evade the checkpoint and flee the scene, but the officers acted quickly to chase and block the vehicle.
Upon a thorough inspection of the auto, authorities discovered a hidden nylon bag stowed beneath the driver’s seat.The search led to the recovery of over two kilograms of crushed cannabis-like material, which was immediately confiscated as evidence.
The suspects, identified as Firdous Ahmad Ganie of Peth Kanihama and Naseer Ahmad Mir of Mazhama, were taken into custody and shifted to the local station. The vehicle used to transport the contraband has also been seized by the department as part of the legal proceedings.
A formal case has been registered under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and investigators are now working to determine the origin of the seized materials and identify any further links in the distribution chain.
This successful operation is a key component of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, which focuses on dismantling the drug trade to protect the region’s youth.
