August 14 August :- Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and President of the Indian National Congress, was deeply saddened by the catastrophic cloudburst in Kishtwar’s Chishoti , which wiped out several lives and left the area in complete shambles. In a posting on Social media site X, Kharge expressed his pain, saying, “Extremely pained by the loss of several lives in the catastrophic cloudburst tragedy in Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir. My heart goes out to the victims’ families, and I express my deepest condolences to all of them.
Expanding his prayers to the injured and those looking for missing relatives, Kharge appealed to authorities to increase rescue and relief operations by mobilizing more teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Armed Forces. He stressed the need for immediate rehabilitation efforts to help affected families during this hour of distress.
Also, Congress leadership appealed to Jammu & Kashmir party workers to help in relief work actively so that all measures are taken to reach the affected people. While rescue efforts are ongoing, the Congress party has also committed its complete cooperation with the administration to reduce the misery faced by the victims.
