Indian Army Joins Forces With NDRF and State Agencies for Joint HADR Exercise ‘SANKALP’ in Dagshai

DAGSHAI, India — July 17, 2026 — To bolster disaster preparedness and enhance rapid-response capabilities, the Indian Army partnered with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Himachal Fire Services, and the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) to conduct the joint Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercise, “SANKALP,” in Dagshai, Himachal Pradesh. Recognizing that preparedness is the ultimate first line of defense, the comprehensive inter-agency exercise simulated high-stress crisis scenarios designed to sharpen operational coordination, streamline critical decision-making, and ensure a unified response to sudden natural disasters.

Throughout the rigorous training program, personnel tackled a spectrum of complex emergency drills, including active forest fire suppression, landslide management, road clearance, and casualty evacuations. Teams also executed high-stakes collapsed structure rescues and simulated challenging night operations utilizing advanced technology, including drone surveillance and high-intensity solar searchlights. By aligning the specialized skills of both military and civilian disaster response teams, Exercise SANKALP successfully forged stronger inter-agency synergy, ensuring that all regional forces are fully synchronized and equipped to save lives and protect communities during times of crisis.
