Shri Amarnath Yatra: 47 Pilgrims Safe After Bus Catches Fire in Jammu’s Ramban; CRPF Leads Swift Rescue

RAMBAN JULY 16, 2026 :- A potentially major tragedy was averted on Thursday on National Highway 44 (NH-44) when a bus carrying 47 Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims caught fire near Karol, Ramban. Demonstrating exceptional promptness and professionalism, personnel from the 84 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) immediately swung into action, safely evacuating all 54 pilgrims from the burning vehicle to a secure location before the flames could spread.

Following the evacuation, CRPF Quick Action Teams (QATs) and a CRPF water tanker were swiftly deployed to the scene to assist in firefighting operations. Working in close coordination with the local Fire & Emergency Services, the District Police, and the Civil Administration, emergency responders successfully brought the blaze under control.

Official Statement: “All pilgrims remained safe, and necessary arrangements for their onward journey are being made by the District Administration. CRPF remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all Yatris throughout the pilgrimage.”

Thanks to the rapid, coordinated response of the security forces and local emergency teams, no casualties or injuries were reported. The District Administration has taken over the logistics to ensure the pilgrims can resume their journey to the holy cave safely.
