Ladakh to get India’s highest commercial Lilium cultivation field

LEH, July 16, 2026:- India is set to get its highest commercial Lilium cultivation field at Choglamsar Flower Field, situated on the banks of the River Sindhu in Leh.

Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena shared that the ambitious project is rapidly taking concrete shape. Over 50,000 premium Lilium bulbs have already been planted at the site, with the highly anticipated first bloom expected to arrive in early September.Once the cultivation field is fully ready, the administration plans to hand over the entire setup to local communities for commercial utilization.

To ensure a smooth transition, the administration will initially assist local self-help groups and cooperatives with marketing. Farmers will also receive specialized scientific training to enable them to independently manage the commercial cultivation starting next year.

The initiative aligns with the “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” vision championed by Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. It aims to create sustainable livelihoods for local communities through floriculture while positioning Ladakh as a premier high-altitude floriculture hub.
