Indian Navy to Host Multinational Operation Southern Readiness 26-2 at Kochi
KOCHI, July 16, 2026: The Indian Navy is set to host Operation Southern Readiness 26-2 at the Southern Naval Command in Kochi from July 20 to 23, 2026. This four-day multinational training engagement will be conducted in partnership with the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) under the aegis of Combined Task Force 154 (CTF 154), a dedicated training task force led by the Indian Navy. The event will gather personnel from CMF partner nations to engage in professional maritime security training, gain practical experience, and exchange industry best practices. Through its active association with the CMF—a multinational maritime partnership that comprises more than 40 nations—the Indian Navy continues to play a pivotal role in regional capacity building and collective maritime security efforts.
The comprehensive training program is designed to combine classroom instruction and simulator-based training with extensive practical exposure. The scheduled sessions will cover critical operational areas, including maritime law, Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA), information sharing, counter-narcotics, force protection, asymmetric threats, and the utilization of maritime uncrewed systems. Furthermore, participants will undergo rigorous training in damage control, firefighting, maritime communications, survival at sea, boarding procedures, and hands-on drills conducted onboard an Indian Naval ship.
