Indian Army’s Sapta Shakti Command Conducts Joint Flood Relief Exercises in Rajasthan to Boost Disaster Response Readiness
JAIPUR, July 16, 2026: Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to humanitarian assistance and disaster response, the Flood Relief Columns of the Indian Army’s Sapta Shakti Command recently conducted comprehensive Joint Flood Relief Exercises and mock drills across Rajasthan. Executed in close coordination with the Rajasthan Civil Defence, state police, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the joint operations were designed to strengthen interoperability and ensure seamless preparedness for swift and effective disaster mitigation.
The extensive drills saw active participation from the Flood Relief Columns of the Vyomastra Air Defence Brigade, alongside the Sappers of STRIKE 1 at Dholpur. Simultaneously, the Laungewala Brigade, working in tandem with the Sappers of the Sapta Shakti Command, carried out similar exercises at Sawai Madhopur. By executing these synchronized operations in tandem with the SDRF and other state agencies, the participating forces successfully validated their collective operational readiness to tackle severe weather contingencies.
The mock drills encompassed a wide range of critical disaster response protocols, including detailed area reconnaissance, boat-based rescue operations, the evacuation of stranded civilians, casualty evacuation, the administration of immediate first aid, and the optimization of inter-agency communication networks. Ultimately, these exercises served to validate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), enhance tactical synergy among all stakeholders, and elevate operational readiness to ensure a rapid, well-coordinated response during future flood emergencies.
