DC Udhampur Minga Sherpa flags off 20th Pingla Mata Yatra in Udhampur
UDHAMPUR, July 16, 2026 :- The 20th Pingla Mata Akhand Jyoti Yatra was organised today with great religious fervour and enthusiasm by the Adi Shakti Sewak Sanstha, Pingla Mata, Udhampur.
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Minga Sherpa, attended as the chief guest and formally flagged off the annual pilgrimage. The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh, Tehsildar Jai Singh, and Adi Shakti Sewak Sanstha President Ashok Gupta, alongside prominent citizens of the region.
During the event, the Deputy Commissioner congratulated the organizers for successfully conducting the annual religious gathering. Sherpa appreciated the efforts of the Sanstha in preserving the rich spiritual traditions of the region, noting that such events play a crucial role in strengthening moral values, promoting communal harmony, and guiding the youth away from drug abuse.
The annual pilgrimage stands as one of the prominent religious events in the district, drawing a massive number of devotees each year and reflecting deep-rooted faith in the holy shrine.Thousands of devotees participated in the yatra with immense devotion, paying obeisance at the revered cave shrine of Pingla Mata, located atop a hill at Pinger village in the Ramnagar tehsil of Udhampur district.
To ensure the convenience of the pilgrims, Adi Shakti Sewak Sanstha President Ashok Gupta shared that the management, with the support of local residents, set up free langar and refreshment stalls at various locations along the route.
Additionally, special bus services were arranged from Udhampur to Kahua village, which serves as the base camp for the cave shrine.Gupta expressed his gratitude to the devotees and the local public for their wholehearted support in making the event a grand success.
He also extended thanks to the district administration for ensuring elaborate arrangements, including security, drinking water, electricity, sanitation, and traffic management, which facilitated a smooth and peaceful pilgrimage for everyone involved.
