NOIDA, July 16, 2026: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the Managing Director of Bengaluru-based Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited (KAPL), a Central Public Sector Enterprise, following a successful trap operation in Noida on July 15, 2026. The accused official reportedly demanded a bribe of approximately Rs. 15 lakhs from a Bhopal-based firm, which operates as an authorized service agent for KAPL engaged in supplying medicines to government institutions across Madhya Pradesh. The undue advantage was allegedly demanded to approve the firm’s Service Agent Agreement, assign additional institutions that were pending renewal for the current financial year, and claim a cut from the commission earned by the firm on medicine sales this year.

The Managing Director was caught red-handed in Noida while accepting Rs. 5 lakhs as a part payment of the total demanded bribery amount. Following the arrest, the CBI conducted extensive searches at the residential and office premises of the accused across Bengaluru, Noida, and Jabalpur. The raids led to the recovery of substantial assets from his Noida residence and Bengaluru office chamber, including around Rs. 75 lakhs in cash, foreign currency valued at Rs. 4 lakhs, and approximately 697 grams of gold jewellery and coins worth around Rs. 86 lakhs. Additionally, property documents for a residential flat belonging to the accused were seized. The CBI stated that further investigation into the case is currently ongoing.
