Ganderbal Security Beefed Up: J&K Police and Armed Forces Conduct Joint Mock Drills for Amarnath Yatra 2026
GANDERBAL — July 15, 2026: In a decisive move to fortify the comprehensive security grid for the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY-2026), the Jammu and Kashmir Police orchestrated extensive joint mock drills across strategic locations in Ganderbal today. Designed to evaluate operational readiness and guarantee a rapid, unified response to any potential contingency, the tactical exercises were strategically executed at Pandith Colony in Manigam and the Thajwas area of Sonamarg. At Pandith Colony, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Ganderbal Police worked in seamless coordination with the Indian Army and various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). Concurrently, personnel from the Sonamarg Police Station, Tourist Police, and allied CAPFs executed a parallel drill at Thajwas, successfully reinforcing the multi-agency security framework vital to safeguarding the Yatra route and its surrounding sectors.
The intensive exercises rigorously tested the participating agencies on critical operational parameters, including inter-agency communication, area domination, tactical intervention, and rapid evacuation protocols. Ground forces focused heavily on crowd management techniques and the swift neutralization of simulated security threats to ensure zero friction during high-stress emergencies. By rigorously assessing their rapid response capabilities under pressure, these coordinated drills underscore the unwavering commitment of the J&K Police, the Indian Army, and allied forces to maintain an impenetrable security apparatus. Together, this proactive multi-agency approach aims to guarantee a highly secure, peaceful, and thoroughly protected environment for all devotees undertaking this year’s sacred pilgrimage.
