Udhampur-Reasi Range DIG Reviews Pending UAPA Cases; Orders Speedy Investigation And Timely Evidence Disposal
UDHAMPUR, JULY 15, 2026: In a significant move aimed at tightening the security grid and ensuring rapid legal action against anti-national elements, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Udhampur-Reasi Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, IPS, chaired a high-level, comprehensive review meeting today. The primary focus of the conference was to scrutinize the current status, investigative progress, and legal procedural milestones of all active cases registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) within the jurisdiction.
Recognizing the sensitive nature of these high-stakes investigations, the top cop issued strict directives aimed at removing bureaucratic bottlenecks, accelerating the pace of ongoing inquiries, and ensuring that premium evidence collection protocols are maintained to secure maximum conviction rates in the court of law.
The strategic session witnessed the active participation of the region’s core police leadership, including the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi, Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl. SP) Udhampur, alongside the Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySP) representing Basantgarh, Latti, DAR Udhampur, and the Police Component Udhampur.
Furthermore, the Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPO) of Mahore and Ramnagar, alongside the respective Investigating Officers (IOs) handling individual counter-terror and anti-state dossiers, briefed the DIG dynamically on the technical breakthroughs, pending forensic reports, and current logistical hurdles tied to the active UAPA files.
Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy toward delays, DIG Shiv Kumar Sharma underscored that the integrity of UAPA cases heavily relies on professional, scientific, and evidence-based investigation. He commanded the Investigating Officers to aggressively expedite the gathering and analysis of digital, circumstantial, and physical evidence, while simultaneously calling for robust, real-time coordination with sister intelligence systems and central security agencies.
