J&K Chief Secretary Fast-Tracks ‘Digital Arrest’ Prevention System to Combat Cyber Fraud

SRINAGAR JULY 06 :- In a major push to fortify Jammu and Kashmir’s digital defenses, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired a high-level review meeting in Srinagar to accelerate the operationalization of a dedicated “Digital Arrest” prevention mechanism. Addressing a gathering of senior administrative and police officials—including the Principal Secretary of Home, ADGP (CID), and Commissioner Secretary of IT—Dulloo mandated strict monthly monitoring to ensure flawless inter-departmental coordination and adherence to tight deadlines. He ordered all technical, statutory, and administrative groundwork to be completed immediately, setting a firm July 20 deadline for departments to log their progress on the Pragati Portal.

Recognizing the sophistication of modern online financial fraud, the Chief Secretary emphasized the twin pillars of institutional readiness and public empowerment. He directed immediate capacity-building and specialized training for cyber crime investigators while calling for a massive, multi-platform public awareness campaign spanning print, electronic, and digital media to educate citizens on how to spot and avoid digital arrest scams. The directive follows a comprehensive roadmap presentation detailing J&K’s current cybersecurity infrastructure, bridging existing technical gaps, and establishing a united, robust defense framework against escalating cyber threats.
