Delhi Crime Branch arrests escaped undertrial prisoner within 48 hours
NEW DELHI, June 29, 2026 — The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police has successfully apprehended an undertrial prisoner who managed to escape custody, tracking him down within 48 hours of his breakout.
The individual had faked a medical emergency to secure a transfer from jail to G.B. Pant Hospital, where he executed a planned escape through the ventilation window of a washroom.Following his escape, the prisoner fled hundreds of kilometers away to Una in Himachal Pradesh to evade law enforcement agencies.
However, the Delhi Crime Branch deployed a combination of technical surveillance, human intelligence networks, and intensive field operations to pinpoint his location and quickly bring him back into custody.
The coordinated operation was executed by a team led by Inspector Mahipal Singh, under the direction of ACP Satendra Mohan and the direct supervision of DCP Aditya Gautam.
