Anantnag SSP reviews railway security ahead of Shri Amarnath ji Yatra

ANANTNAG, June 29, 2026 :- As part of the comprehensive security preparations for the upcoming pilgrimage, Senior Superintendent of Police Anantnag Amod Ashok Nagpure chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Harnag Railway Station with officers of the District Police, Central Armed Police Forces, Railway Police, and other security agencies.

The meeting focused primarily on reviewing the security architecture and ensuring seamless coordination among all stakeholders for the safe and secure movement of pilgrims alongside the smooth conduct of railway operations during the Shri Amarnath ji Yatra.

During the interaction, the SSP emphasized the importance of robust access control, round-the-clock surveillance, anti-sabotage measures, intelligence sharing, and effective deployment of security personnel at the railway station and its adjoining areas, while directing all officers to maintain heightened alertness and strictly adhere to Standard Operating Procedures.

The security review also covered the deployment plan, CCTV surveillance coverage, baggage screening arrangements, frisking procedures, emergency response preparedness, traffic regulation around the railway station, and passenger facilitation measures.

The SSP stressed the immediate need for regular joint drills, close liaison among the police, CAPF, Railway Police, and civil administration, and the continuous monitoring of vulnerable points.

Following the meeting, the SSP conducted a detailed physical inspection of the railway station premises, security installations, entry and exit points, CCTV control systems, and passenger amenities to issue necessary directions for further strengthening the overall security grid.

The present officers reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring foolproof security arrangements and seamless coordination for the peaceful, safe, and successful conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
