Bhandara Bypass on National Highway 53 Eases Traffic and Boosts Nagpur Raipur Connectivity

BHANDARA, June 29, 2026 — The National Highways Authority of India has successfully operationalized the 14.8-kilometer-long Bhandara Bypass on National Highway 53, a critical infrastructure project designed to alleviate urban congestion and enhance regional logistics.

The newly constructed bypass features a major bridge over the Wainganga River, providing a seamless transport corridor that significantly improves connectivity between the major economic hubs of Nagpur and Raipur.

By diverting heavy commercial vehicles away from the congested internal roads of Bhandara city, the project successfully eliminates persistent traffic bottlenecks and streamlines long-distance transit.

The strategic diversion of freight and heavy traffic from urban zones has led to a measurable reduction in localized traffic congestion, lowering the risk of road accidents within municipal limits.

Additionally, the continuous, uninterrupted flow of vehicles on the bypass has minimized travel times, contributing to decreased fuel consumption and a reduction in vehicular emissions.

By establishing a safer and more efficient travel experience, the highway corridor optimizes logistics operations, facilitates the rapid movement of goods, and acts as a catalyst for economic growth and commercial development across the region.
