Eastern Naval Command celebrates World Hydrography Day 2026 in Visakhapatnam

VISAKHAPATNAM, June 25, 2026The Eastern Naval Command celebrated World Hydrography Day 2026 with a series of educational events held in Visakhapatnam. As part of the two-day celebrations, students from Navy Children School in Vizag and the Dadi Institute of Engineering and Technology in Anakapalli were invited to explore key naval facilities.

The young visitors toured the hydrographic survey vessel INS Sandhayak, the Hydrographic Survey Unit, and the Naval Chart Depot to gain firsthand insight into maritime operations.During the guided tour, naval personnel briefed the students on the critical role that hydrographic operations play in mapping the oceans and ensuring maritime safety.

The students also witnessed live demonstrations of advanced hydrographic survey equipment used by the navy to gather precise underwater data.The interactive visit successfully highlighted the vital significance of hydrography in ensuring safe navigation across global shipping lanes and strengthening international maritime cooperation.

Furthermore, naval officials emphasized how accurate hydrographic data directly supports the growth of the blue economy and contributes significantly to overall national development.
