CISF takes over security of Darbhanga Airport in Bihar to enhance aviation safety
DARBHANGA, May 14, 2026 — The Central Industrial Security Force has officially assumed responsibility for the security of Darbhanga Airport, marking it as the 72nd airport in India and the third in Bihar to be protected by the elite force.
The induction ceremony took place in the presence of Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and DG CISF Praveer Ranjan, along with other senior officials. This deployment is a significant step in securing a strategically vital aviation hub located near the Indo-Nepal border, which has seen rapid growth under the Government of India’s UDAN scheme.
To ensure comprehensive protection against emerging threats, the CISF has deployed specialized units at the airport, including Quick Reaction Teams, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads, and K9 squads.
These technology-driven security measures are designed to provide a robust safety net for the increasing number of passengers traveling through North Bihar.
With the addition of Darbhanga Airport, the CISF now provides security cover to 11 critical installations across the state, reaffirming its role in safeguarding essential national infrastructure.
