Minister Javed Ahmed Rana Boosts Border Infrastructure with Key Projects in Mendhar
MENDHAR, April 07, 2026 — In a major effort to bolster public infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir’s border regions, Javed Ahmed Rana, Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for several high-impact development projects in the Mendhar constituency today.
These initiatives, designed to enhance essential services and regional connectivity, included the inauguration of a ₹151.80 lakh Food Store Building to strengthen the local public distribution system and a ₹259 lakh, 100-bedded girls’ hostel under the SAMAGRA programme to support female education and empowerment.
Additionally, the Minister laid the foundation for a ₹120 lakh RCC motorable bridge and culvert on the Jugal–Salwah road, a project expected to significantly stimulate local economic growth by improving accessibility.
During his visit, which included inspections of a synthetic athletic track and a 50 MVA grid station, Minister Rana reaffirmed the government’s dedication to bridging the rural-urban divide, emphasizing that such investments in infrastructure and connectivity are vital for achieving equitable development and improving the quality of life in underserved border areas.
