Assam Rifles Clinches Overall Championship at 26th All India Police Shooting Competition

Gurugram March 31, 2026 — The Assam Rifles cemented their reputation as elite marksmen by dominating the 26th All India Police Shooting (AIPDM) Competition 2025–26, held at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Group Centre in Gurugram.

During the intensive eight-day event, which ran from March 22 to March 30, the Assam Rifles team delivered a powerhouse performance to secure the prestigious Overall Championship trophy.

The force’s sharpshooters displayed clinical precision, hauling in a total of nine medals, including five Gold and four Bronze, while sweepingly claiming the titles for Overall Best in Rifle and Overall Best in Pistol.

Individual excellence was also a highlight of the tournament, with Rfn Suraj Sonar being officially adjudged the Best Shot in Pistol, a testament to the rigorous training standards of the force. Recognizing this monumental feat, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the marksmen.

He commended the team for their unwavering dedication and “exemplary performance,” noting that their success continues to uphold the highest professional traditions of the Assam Rifles on the national stage.
