Umar Should Pressure for restoration of statehood or resign :- Sahni
Jammu: The monsoon session of Parliament has been adjourned after 166 hours and 248 crores were wasted, once again the hopes of restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir have been dashed. The mandate and the High Court’s directions are being constantly insulted, the Omar government has also proved unsuccessful in pressurizing the central government, stated by Manish Sahni, President Shiv Sena,UBT Jammu and Kashmir unit.In a press conference held today at the party’s state central office, state chief Manish Sahni questioned the central government’s intentions regarding restoration of Jammu and Kashmir statehood and said that the BJP, which failed to gain power in the assembly elections, wants to retain control over power through the Lieutenant Governor. This attitude of the government is an insult to the mandate, democracy and the supreme Court’s instructions.
A bench of the High Court had given directions to restore full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir as soon as possible in 2023. Sahni said that the Central Government which has been singing the tune of restoration of statehood at the appropriate time for the last 6 years was expected to restore statehood during the monsoon session, but the ruling party has once again disappointed the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Sahni said that the Omar Government also not adopting any strong stance against the evasive attitude of the Central Government. Sahni has demanded from Omar Abdullah to put pressure on restoration of statehood with the privileges of land, jobs and admission in educational institutions to the sons of the soil along with their cultural identity under Article 371, or else he should resign.
