KULGAM | January 21, 2026:- In a major push toward rural infrastructure development, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Education, Sakeena Itoo, visited Kulgam district today to lay the foundation stone of a new Water Supply Scheme (WSS) at Herpora Banimullah.
Funded under the UT Capex budget at an estimated cost of ₹2.74 crore, this vital project is designed to provide safe and reliable potable drinking water to a significant number of households in the region. The initiative addresses a long-standing demand of the local population, ensuring that even far-flung areas gain access to a basic necessity that is central to the government’s developmental agenda.
During the foundation ceremony, Minister Itoo addressed a large public gathering, emphasizing the government’s unwavering commitment to inclusive and balanced development. She highlighted that transparency and timely completion are the benchmarks of current developmental projects, aiming for maximum public benefit.
Beyond the water project, the Minister actively engaged with local delegations to assess progress in healthcare, education, and road connectivity. She reiterated that the administration is working tirelessly to elevate living standards in rural areas, viewing clean water access not just as a project, but as a fundamental right for every citizen.
The visit also served as a platform for direct grievance redressal, as the Minister listened to various concerns raised by residents regarding infrastructure and social welfare.
Accompanied by senior district officers and officials from the Jal Shakti Department, Sakeena Itoo directed immediate action on feasible local issues, stressing that community feedback is the backbone of effective governance.
