KPDCL Announces Power Shutdown in Srinagar and Anantnag on January 22
SRINAGAR, January 20, 2026 — The Chief Engineer, Distribution, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has notified the public of scheduled power shutdowns on January 22, 2026, to facilitate essential maintenance and system upgrades.
Residents in several parts of Anantnag and Srinagar will experience temporary outages between 09:30 AM and 03:00 PM. Specifically, the shutdown of the 33 KV Wanpoh-Ashajipora and Wanpoh-Malaknag lines will impact electricity supply to Ashajipora, Dialgam, Malaknag, Hazratbal, Brakpora, Doonipawa, and surrounding areas.
In the capital city, the KPDCL will also observe a shutdown of the 33 KV Bemina-Fateh Kadal and 33 KV Bemina-Barbarshah lines.
This maintenance work will affect power availability in numerous downtown and central localities, including K.K Mohalla, Nowpora, Bohrikadal, Barbarshah, Bishembarnagar, Gousia Hospital, Naisarak, and the Exchange area. Additionally, neighborhoods such as Basant Bagh, Car Parking Maisuma, and adjacent regions should prepare for the scheduled interruption.
Consumers are advised to plan accordingly, as the utility provider aims to complete the technical works within the specified timeframe to improve grid reliability.
