UDHAMPUR, JANUARY 20: In a major strike against the narcotics trade, the Udhampur Police successfully arrested a drug peddler and seized a quantity of heroin during a specialized checking operation at Zero Morh, Rehambal.
A police team from the Rehambal Police Station intercepted a vehicle, registered as JK08H-8637, which was being driven by Tarun Singh, son of Shankar Singh and a resident of Garnai, Udhampur.
Upon conducting a thorough personal search and inspection of the vehicle, officers recovered 2.52 grams of heroin from the suspect’s possession. Consequently, the individual was taken into custody, and a formal case has been registered under FIR No. 12/2026, invoking Sections 8, 21, and 22 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police have confirmed that a detailed investigation is currently underway to trace the forward and backward linkages of the seized contraband.
