NEW DELHI, January 19, 2026: In a formal high-profile ceremony held at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Headquarters, Shatrujeet Kapur, IPS, officially took over the reins as the Director General (DG) of the ITBP.
The transition of leadership marks a significant moment for the elite mountain-trained force, which is primarily responsible for guarding India’s borders along the Himalayas.
The ceremonial baton was formally handed over by the outgoing Director General, Praveen Kumar, IPS, to the newly appointed chief.
During the event, the outgoing DG expressed his confidence in the leadership of Shatrujeet Kapur, while the new Director General acknowledged the immense responsibility of leading the “Himveers” and emphasized his commitment to maintaining the highest standards of operational readiness and border security.
