CM Omar Abdullah Urges Mumbai Travel Leaders to Strengthen Partnerships for J&K Tourism

MUMBAI | January 16, 2026 — Chief Minister Omar Abdullah reached out to prominent travel and trade stakeholders in Mumbai today, calling for a reinforced partnership to promote Jammu & Kashmir as a secure, vibrant, and year-round destination.

Addressing travel agents and tour operators from Maharashtra and Gujarat, the Chief Minister clarified that his visit was focused on building trust and long-term collaboration rather than merely marketing the region’s natural beauty. He emphasized the deep-rooted bond between the Union Territory and the travel fraternity of Western India, acknowledging their vital role in sustaining the tourism sector over the years.

The Chief Minister specifically expressed gratitude for the solidarity shown by Maharashtra-based travel agencies following the Pahalgam attack last year. He noted that their continued confidence was instrumental in restoring tourist trust and maintaining inflow during challenging periods.

Highlighting Maharashtra as one of the strongest source markets for the region, he reiterated the government’s dedication to infrastructure development, safety, and a tourist-friendly environment across leisure, adventure, and pilgrimage segments.

The outreach event also served as a platform to honor leading travel agents and associations for their contributions to promoting J&K tourism.

Attended by high-ranking officials, including Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani and MLA Gulmarg Peerzada Farooq Ahmed Shah, the program fostered a renewed commitment to positioning Jammu & Kashmir as a premier choice for both domestic and international travelers.
