Chief Electoral Officer Reviews Preparedness for National Voters Day 2026 in Jammu
JAMMU, January 9, 2026 — Chief Electoral Officer Sanjeev Verma chaired a high-level meeting today to finalize arrangements for the upcoming 16th National Voters Day (NVD), scheduled for January 25.
The meeting, attended by Director Information Nitish Rajora, Special Secretaries Narupa Rai and Sandesh Kumar Gupta, and ADC Jammu Vidhu Shekhar, focused on a multi-departmental strategy to promote electoral awareness.
Key activities discussed included the “NVD Run,” student participation, the distribution of publicity banners, and the deployment of SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) vans to educate the public on the importance of voting.
A full rehearsal for the main event is slated for January 16 at KL Sehgal Hall.During the session, specific instructions were issued to various departments to ensure a vibrant celebration.
Jammu University officials were directed to organize the NVD Run and sports events on January 24, while the Director of Colleges was tasked with coordinating live performances of the National Anthem.
To enhance the cultural appeal of the campaign, the JKAACL will organize theme-based street plays and painting competitions, while representatives from the Muskan and Jigar Foundations will contribute themed musical performances.
Emphasizing the need for synchronized efforts, the Chief Electoral Officer urged all officers to execute their tasks within the stipulated timelines to ensure the successful achievement of the day’s core objective: empowering and informing the electorate.
