Jammu Police Nab Seventh Suspect in Major Cross-Border Narco-Terror Syndicate

JAMMU, January 9, 2026 — In a significant breakthrough under “Operation Sanjeevani,” the Jammu Police have arrested a seventh individual linked to a high-profile cross-border narcotics and arms smuggling network.

The accused, identified as Rohit Kumar (alias Makhan) from R.S. Pura, was apprehended by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) following an intensive probe into a racket first dismantled in December last year.

During the latest operation, authorities conducted a targeted search in Raiyan Kotliyan based on investigative leads, resulting in the recovery of a Px5 Storm Beretta pistol (.30 bore), along with a magazine and three live rounds.

This arrest follows the initial bust on December 5, 2024, where six suspects were detained and approximately 5 kilograms of heroin—valued at nearly ₹30 crore—was seized alongside three pistols.

The syndicate is described as a sophisticated inter-district and inter-state operation with deep-rooted cross-border links, involving drug peddlers, financial handlers, and even jail-based facilitators.

To date, the police have recovered a total of 4.95 kg of heroin, four pistols, and a modified vehicle used for smuggling. The Jammu Police confirmed that the accused is currently in custody as the SIT works to map out the syndicate’s forward and backward linkages.

Interrogations are focused on identifying the specific arms supply routes and financial channels used to sustain the narco-terror module. Officials stated that efforts are being intensified to dismantle the remainder of the network and apprehend all remaining associates involved in this threat to national security.
