Kashmir University Announces Winter Vacation Starting January 10
SRINAGAR, January 9, 2026 — The University of Kashmir has officially announced that its winter vacation will begin on January 10, following a brief delay in the usual academic schedule.
According to the University Registrar, Prof. Naseer Iqbal, the winter break is scheduled to remain in effect from January 10 through February 22.
While the university typically commences its winter recess on the first of January, this year’s timeline was shifted as administrators navigated scheduling complexities.
The delay in the vacation announcement was reportedly linked to plans for the University convocation, which was originally aimed for the final week of December.
Sources indicate that while the university intended to host the event prior to the break, unresolved official matters prevented the finalization of a date.
Addressing the status of the event, Prof. Naseer Iqbal noted that a final decision regarding the convocation has yet to be reached, leaving the timing of the ceremony to be determined after the winter recess or at a later date.
