Amit Shah Reviews J&K Security,Vows to Eliminate Terrorism and Establish Lasting Peace

NEW DELHI — January 8, 2026 Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, chaired a high-level security review meeting in New Delhi today to assess the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The session was attended by key stakeholders, including J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Union Home Secretary, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), and the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police for Jammu and Kashmir, alongside heads of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs). During the meeting, Shah reaffirmed the Modi Government’s unwavering commitment to establishing permanent peace in the region. He emphasized a “zero tolerance” policy against terrorism, noting that coordinated efforts have successfully crippled the local terror ecosystem.

To maintain this momentum, the Home Minister directed security agencies to continue Counter-Terror (CT) operations in a “mission mode,” specifically targeting terrorist infrastructure and illicit financing. Shri Shah praised the ongoing efforts of security personnel for significantly strengthening the region’s security landscape and called for continued synergy among all agencies. He underscored that the gains achieved following the abrogation of Article 370 must be sustained to realize the ultimate goal of a “terror-free Jammu and Kashmir.” Concluding the review, he assured officials that the Central Government would provide all necessary resources and support to ensure the complete eradication of terrorism from the Union Territory.
