RTO Kashmir Issues 7-Day Deadline to Clear Pending Two-Wheeler Traffic Challans and Avoid Vehicle Seizure
SRINAGAR, January 08, 2026: The Office of the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Kashmir, led by Qazi Irfan (JKAS), has issued a high-priority public notice (No. RTOK/MVD/2026/PS/08-12) targeting two-wheeler owners with outstanding traffic violations across the Kashmir Division.
Under the strict provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, authorities have observed widespread non-compliance, specifically regarding riders and pillion passengers failing to wear protective helmets, which poses a severe threat to public safety.
Consequently, all defaulting vehicle owners are now officially directed to clear their pending challans within a final window of seven (07) days from the date of this publication.
The RTO has warned that failure to settle these fines within the stipulated timeframe will result in immediate and stringent legal consequences, including the imposition of heavy penalties, the suspension of registration documents, and the summary seizure of vehicles without further notice.
This enforcement drive aims to restore road order and ensure that all motorists in the Kashmir region adhere to mandatory safety protocols to protect human life and property.
