REASI | January 8, 2026 – In a significant boost to public safety and crime deterrence, the District Police Reasi has successfully cracked a major criminal case registered at the Katra Police Station.
Following the registration of FIR No. 01/2026 on New Year’s Day—under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act—a specialized police team launched an intensive manhunt.
The operation culminated on January 6, 2026, with the apprehension of three key suspects from the Showa Gharota area in Jammu district.The arrested individuals have been identified as Liaqat Ali, Ramzan Mohd, and Younis Ali, all residents of Kotli Bajalian, Nomain, Katra. During the course of rigorous interrogation, Liaqat Ali provided a detailed disclosure that led the police to the recovery of the weapon used in the offense—a sharp-edged “Toka.”
To ensure total transparency and legal credibility, the recovery was conducted in the presence of independent civil witnesses, strengthening the evidentiary value of the investigation.
The operation was executed by SHO Katra Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the direct supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey and SP Katra Vipan Chandran. Following the breakthrough, SSP Reasi Paramvir Singh reaffirmed the department’s zero-tolerance policy toward criminal activities.
He emphasized that the district police remain vigilant and will continue to act decisively against any elements attempting to disturb peace or law and order in the region. Further investigations are currently underway to determine if the accused are linked to any other criminal networks
