UIDAI Launches ‘Udai’ Mascot to Simplify Aadhaar Services for Citizens

New Delhi, January 8, 2026 : In a major move to enhance public engagement and simplify complex information, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has officially launched Udai (उदय), the new mascot for Aadhaar.

Unveiled by UIDAI Chairman Neelkanth Mishra in Thiruvananthapuram, the mascot is designed to act as a resident-facing communication companion, making information regarding Aadhaar updates, authentication, and offline verification more relatable and people-friendly.

The mascot was selected following a highly competitive national design and naming contest on the MyGov platform, which drew 875 entries from across India. Arun Gokul from Thrissur, Kerala, was announced as the winner of the mascot design competition, while Riya Jain from Bhopal secured the first prize for proposing the name “Udai.”

CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar emphasized that this initiative reaffirms Aadhaar’s core principle of building trust through public participation, as the mascot begins its journey as a narrator to help over a billion residents navigate digital identity services with greater ease.
