New Delhi, January 8, 2026 : The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released the results of its Independent Drive Tests (IDT) conducted in November 2025 to assess the service quality of mobile operators across Durg and Bhilai cities, the Raipur-Jagdalpur highway, and the Bhopal-Ratlam railway route.
The comprehensive audit, which covered 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies, evaluated critical performance metrics such as Call Setup Success Rate (CSSR) and Drop Call Rate (DCR) to reflect real-world user experiences.
According to the findings, Reliance Jio (RJIL) achieved a perfect 100% call setup success rate in auto-selection mode, followed by Vodafone Idea (VIL) at 96.31%, Airtel at 95.44%, and BSNL at 85.31%.
In terms of call drops, RJIL recorded the lowest rate at 0.45%, while BSNL saw the highest at 3.56%. The tests also highlighted significant coverage challenges on highways and railway routes; for instance, poor signal strength was observed on over 33% of the railway route for BSNL and nearly 25% of the highway route for RJIL.
TRAI has shared these detailed findings with all Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) to initiate necessary improvements in network infrastructure and service delivery.
